Squash has been played at McGill University for over 100 years. For the greater part of the 20
th century and now, the squash facilities at the university have provided a fantastic platform for both recreational and competitive play. In fact, there are over 300 recreational players that enjoy the sport on McGill University’s Webster courts.
The McGill Squash Club represents a smaller group of athletes composed of the best squash players at the university. These players represent McGill University in at least 3-4 provincial and national university tournaments. These tournaments have traditionally been held at Queens University, the University of Toronto and at McGill. At these venues, we compete in the University Squash League consisting of teams from the University of Western Ontario, Queens University, Brock University, the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, McMaster University, Concordia University, and l’Université de Montréal.
The McGill Squash Club holds 3 practices per week and expects its representatives to participate both in competitive matches as well as physical training outside of these practices. We dedicate this time with the aim of finishing in a top 4 position in the league, which allows us to represent McGill University in the league final - the Canadian Jesters Inter-University Championships.
