CÔTE ST. LUC, Que. — Gabriel Reque-Cruz belted a two-run homer and Will Greer tossed a complete game as McGill defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 4-2 on Saturday to salvage a doubleheader split in men's university baseball.

Ottawa (6-5) won the opener 10-0, but McGill (4-12) responded in the second game at Gary Carter Field in Trudeau Park.

Reque-Cruz, a third baseman, drove in two runs with his fourth-inning blast after Alex Strapko was hit by a pitch. Davis Nickel and Strapko each added RBIs earlier in the contest.

Greer scattered four hits over seven innings, striking out six and allowing just one earned run for his first win of the season.

The Gee-Gees scored both of their runs in the third inning, capitalizing on a double by Jean-Simon Leroux and a single from Anthony Rauzino, combined with a McGill error.

William Durnford went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to pace the Redbirds' offence.

McGill returns to action Sunday with a doubleheader against Carleton (9-7) at Gary Carter Field.

CÔTE ST. LUC, Québec — Gabriel Reque-Cruz a frappé un coup de circuit de deux points et Will Greer a lancé un match complet alors que McGill a battu les Gee-Gees d'Ottawa 4-2 samedi, sauvant ainsi un partage dans une double rencontre de baseball universitaire masculin.

Ottawa (6-5) a remporté le premier match 10-0, mais McGill (4-12) a réagi lors du deuxième match au Gary Carter Field, dans le parc Trudeau.

Reque-Cruz, troisième base, a produit deux points grâce à son coup de circuit en quatrième manche après qu'Alex Strapko ait été touché par un lancer. Davis Nickel et Strapko ont chacun ajouté des points produits plus tôt dans la partie.

Greer a dispersé quatre coups sûrs en sept manches, retirant six frappeurs sur des prises et n'accordant qu'un seul point mérité pour remporter sa première victoire de la saison.

Les Gee-Gees ont marqué leurs deux points en troisième manche, profitant d'un double de Jean-Simon Leroux et d'un simple d'Anthony Rauzino, combinés à une erreur de McGill.

William Durnford a réussi 2 coups sûrs en 2 présences au bâton, avec un but sur balles et un point marqué, pour mener l'attaque des Redbirds.

McGill sera de retour au jeu dimanche avec un programme double contre Carleton (9-7) au Gary Carter Field.
