OTTAWA – The McGill men's baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep in emphatic fashion, pounding out 11 runs on as many hits in an 11-3 victory over Carleton at RCGT Park, Sunday, to extend their win streak to three. The result improved McGill's record to 3-8, while the Ravens slipped to 7-6.
The Redbirds jumped ahead after falling behind 1-0 in the first, scoring twice in the third, then erupting for six runs in the fifth to put the contest out of reach. McGill's balanced attack capitalized on Carleton's four errors and 11 men left on base, compared to just seven stranded by the visitors. The Redbirds outhit the Ravens 11-9.
Multi-hit performances fuelled both sides. For McGill, Nathaniel Steffler went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while Robert Glusker added two hits, a walk and two runs scored. Radbod Yazdanfar contributed a hit, walk, RBI and two runs, and late-game substitutes Davis Nickel and Jackson Cohen each doubled.
Carleton's Dylan Merpaw led the Ravens with two hits and two stolen bases, while Jordan Cruz, Matt Albert and Benji Wdowczyk also chipped in RBI singles.
On the mound, righthander Will Greer went six solid innings for McGill to earn his first win (1-0). He scattered five hits, allowing two runs (one earned), walked four and struck out three over 112 pitches. Reliever Dylan Yang surrendered four hits and one run in the seventh, fanning two in closing out the contest.
Carleton cycled through five pitchers. Starter Will Zurell opened with a scoreless first inning, but Robert Molyneux struggled in the second and fifth, yielding six runs – five earned – on two hits, three walks and a hit batsman in two-thirds of an inning. He was charged with the bulk of the damage, while rookie Lukas Artichuk (0-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing two inherited runners to score in the fifth. John Hardie finished with one run against in the seventh.
McGill sealed matters in the late frames, with Cohen's double in the sixth leading to an insurance run, followed by Nickel's leadoff double in the seventh that set up the final marker. The Ravens added a run in the bottom half on Wdowczyk's single, but it wasn't enough to offset McGill's earlier outburst.
The teams will reconvene for another doubleheader on Sunday (Sept. 21), beginning at 12 noon in Ottawa.

OTTAWA – L'équipe masculine de baseball de McGill a remporté deux victoires consécutives de manière éclatante, marquant 11 points sur autant de coups sûrs lors d'une victoire 11-3 contre Carleton au RCGT Park, dimanche, prolongeant ainsi sa série de victoires à trois. Ce résultat porte le bilan de McGill à 3-8, tandis que les Ravens glissent à 7-6.
Les Redbirds ont pris l'avantage après avoir été menés 1-0 dans la première manche, marquant deux fois dans la troisième, puis explosant avec six points dans la cinquième pour mettre le match hors de portée. L'attaque équilibrée de McGill a profité des quatre erreurs de Carleton et des 11 hommes laissés sur base, contre seulement sept pour les visiteurs. Les Redbirds ont dominé les Ravens 11-9 au nombre de coups sûrs.
Les performances multi-coups ont alimenté les deux équipes. Pour McGill, Nathaniel Steffler a réussi 2 sur 3 avec deux points et deux points produits, tandis que Robert Glusker a ajouté deux coups sûrs, une marche et deux points marqués. Radbod Yazdanfar a contribué avec un coup sûr, une marche, un point produit et deux points, et les remplaçants en fin de match Davis Nickel et Jackson Cohen ont chacun frappé un double.
Dylan Merpaw, de Carleton, a mené les Ravens avec deux coups sûrs et deux bases volées, tandis que Jordan Cruz, Matt Albert et Benji Wdowczyk ont également contribué avec des simples productifs.

Il a dispersé cinq coups sûrs, accordant deux points (un mérité), accordant quatre buts sur balles et retirant trois frappeurs sur 112 lancers. Le releveur Dylan Yang a concédé quatre coups sûrs et un point en septième manche, retirant deux frappeurs sur des prises pour clôturer le match.
Carleton a fait appel à cinq lanceurs. Le partant Will Zurell a débuté avec une première manche sans point, mais Robert Molyneux a connu des difficultés en deuxième et cinquième manches, concédant six points – dont cinq mérités – sur deux coups sûrs, trois buts sur balles et un frappeur atteint en deux tiers de manche. Il a été tenu responsable de la majeure partie des dégâts, tandis que la recrue Lukas Artichuk (0-1) a été créditée de la défaite après avoir laissé deux coureurs hérités marquer en cinquième manche. John Hardie a terminé avec un point concédé en septième manche.
McGill a scellé l'issue du match dans les dernières manches, avec un double de Cohen en sixième manche qui a permis d'assurer un point d'avance, suivi d'un double de Nickel en début de septième manche qui a permis de marquer le point final. Les Ravens ont ajouté un point dans la deuxième moitié de la manche grâce au simple de Wdowczyk, mais cela n'a pas suffi pour compenser l'explosion offensive de McGill.
Les deux équipes se retrouveront dimanche 21 septembre pour un autre programme double, qui débutera à midi à Ottawa.
