Ravens clip Martlets wings in overtime thriller

OTTAWA – Nicole Hunter scored at 4:33 of overtime as Carleton rallied for 3-2 victory over visiting McGill at the Ice House arena on Super Bowl Sunday matinee.
 
It was only Carleton's ninth career win against the Martlets who dropped to 106-9-1 lifetime against the Ravens.

The Ravens had forced overtime after pulling their goalie in the final minute of regulation time and knotting the score at 2-2 when Lanie Guimond tallied her second goal of the game with just 29 seconds remaining on the clock. The won the game with 27 seconds left in the first overtime session.
 
Carleton had a 44-25 edge in shots but struggled to find a solution against McGill netminder Sarah Carmichael, a pharmacology from St. Lazare, Que., who was credited with a career-best 41 saves in a losing cause.
 
After a scoreless opening period, McGill took the lead just 19 seconds into the middle stanza when defenceman Elizabeth Mura, a management sophomore from Calgary, Alta., converted a pass from veteran forward Makenzie McCallum of Morden, man., for her first goal of the season and third career marker in 57 games overall.
 
Guimond knotted the score 10 minutes later with her first of two.
 
McGill appeared poised for victory In the final stanza when team captain Christiana Colizza of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., converted McMalum's pass at 14:52, setting the stage for the late comeback.
 
Ravens goalie Marie-Eve Cote turned aside 23 of 25 shots for the win.
 
The game featured 10 minor penalties, divided equally between the teams. Both sides went 0-for-3 on the power-play.
 
Fifth-place Carleton improved to 8-13-3 and will close out their season on the road against division-leading Concordia (19-4-1) on Feb. 17.
 
McGill (2-20-2) will conclude their campaign on the road against second-place Montreal Carabins (16-4-4) on the same date.It will mark the final collegiate game for three graduating McGill seniors, namely Colizza, McCallum and Marika Labrecque.
