Upstart Ravens fly past Martlets to collect sixth lifetime win in 112 meetings

MONTREAL – Cecelia Lopez tallied twice as the Carleton Ravens doubled McGill 4-2 in RSEQ women's hockey at McConnell Arena, Friday.

It was the first win for Carleton (1-4) and the sixth consecutive setback for the Martlets (0-6), since the regular season started last month.

The result was also Carleton's first win over McGill since a 4-3 decision on Nov. 10, 2019 and halted a six-game losing streak to the Martlets. McGill's all-time head-to-head record against the Ravens dropped to 105-6-1, including a 54-3-0 mark on home ice.

Carleton led 3-1 after the first period, neither team scored in the second and both sides tallied once in the final frame.

Rounding out the scoring for Carleton was Victoria Bullock (shorthanded) and Nicole Hunter.

The McGill goals were scored by sophomore Stephanie Keeper of red Deer, Alta., to tie the score at 1-1 and senior Christiana Colizza of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., .to reduce the deficit to 4-2. Keeper's tally was her first career marker in 36 career contests with the Martlets.

The Ravens had a 29-25 edge in shots and went 0-for-1 on the power-play. McGill went 1-for-3 with the extra attacker.

Goaltender Marie-Eve Cote made 23 saves for the win, while Sarah Carmichael registered 25 saves for McGill and took the loss.

Carleton will host Concordia (3-1) on Sunday (Nov. 6) at 3 p.m., while McGill plays the Stingers at the Ed Meagher Arena on nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
